Maui is the world's best island for a lot of reasons: the ocean, food, and outdoor sports to name just a few. But staying Number One isn't easy, and challenges abound. In our Fall Edition we take a video look at one of the critical issues facing Maui. Coral reefs, and the wildlife that inhabit them, are under severe stress. The causes are numerous, and the situation is becoming more and more alarming. The State of Hawaii recently took onestep to help preserve our reefs. Our Maui video features Russell Sparks, with the Hawaii Division of Aquatic Resources, who sat down with us to explain the action, the problems facing Maui's reefs, and what can be done about them.
On the lighter side, we take a video visit with one of the most unique foodstands on Maui. Julia's Best Banana Bread on the Planet is out in Kahakuloa, along that interesting (shall we say) death-defying (some may say) back road along the northwest tip of the island.
Finally, with the XTERRA World Championships coming up, we take a look back at one of 2008's amateur competitors. This Maui video features Milan Sallaba, a globetrotting telecommunications executive based in Dubai who, for relaxation, practices and participates in grueling triathlons. What makes him do it? Watch our interview to find out why Milan does it!
Till next time, we wish you
