As you can see in the Maui Video, this is a beautiful one mile long undeveloped beach covered with trees, sand dunes, and boulders. Strong currents and wind create the perfect conditions for advanced windsurfers and intermediate to advanced surfers.Along the shore line, shallow waters and protective reef bring in families on the weekends and a few stragglers during the week.
This beach sits next to the airport and is a great place to let the little ones get a close up view of helicopters and airplanes as they pass directly overhead. Also because of its location at the end of the runway and airport flight patterns, the beach is posted as no kiteboarding allowed.
There are no facilities or lifeguards anywhere along this beach. Bring plenty of water, especially if you plan on hiking the many paths that web through this raw stretch of Maui coastline.
To get to Spreckelsville Beach take Hana Highway east from Kahului. At 0.3 miles past mile marker 4 turn left onto Stable Road also listed as Spreckelsville Road. Spreckelsville Road is actually the name of the street on the other side of Hana Highway when it continues off into the sugar cane fields. There is not a street sign or a beach access sign on Hana highway.
There are three major entrances off Stable Road to the beach and many more walking paths. The first one is 0.3 miles down Stable Rd and the last at 0.6 miles. These are dirt roads that most rental cars can navigate at a slow pace. The parking lots are mostly sand so be careful when parking as to not get stuck. Do not park or linger under any hanging coconuts either. The trees are not well maintained here like they are at the more popular beaches.
Across the street from the beach, a bike path runs from Kanaha Beach to Paia Beach. Many riders take a break from the trail to cool off in the high winds and enjoy the views this beach provides.
The POV Video takes you down the first dirt access road to the beach, then travels the coastline from the east end parking lot along the beach to the west.
